The Full Story

Testimonials from our families

We believe that we are successful if our families enjoy being with us,  see their children thrive in the environment we create - whether simply attending once a week for a preschool class, or more frequently for those wishing to take their dancing further.  We hope you enjoy reading some of their comments

Hannah

I started dance with Pivotal at 13 years old, and spent 95% of my free time there until I moved to Queensland to pursue full-time dance. I did all sorts of sports before I started dance and found I was very good at netball, swimming, and athletics, but I didn’t enjoy them as much as I wanted to. I saw all these girls at school doing backbends and splits and decided I wanted to learn to do that, so I researched dance and asked my mum to sign me up.

I started in the U12/U15 contemporary class and quickly found that I was not good at all. I had my spot in the back row and had big aspirations about waving the flag at the front of our routine (if you know you know).

One thing I love about Pivotal is their belief in all students whether they’ve been dancing for 10 weeks or 10 years. I had absolutely no coordination, and was a gangly, lanky, tall thing, but somehow my teachers saw something in me and pushed and believed in me from the very beginning.

I went on to do a year of U15 competition teams, and for the rest of my time I was a member of the Opens competition teams. I also started aerial training with Pivotal too! Slowly I worked my way to the front line of routines, started learning new styles, found my love of broadway/cabaret/showgirl style dance, and began to see a vision for where I wanted my career to go, all under the guidance of my Pivotal family offering me advice and insight along the way.

The day I left the studio was to move to Queensland to do full-time dance in the hopes of starting my career, and even though I no longer trained at Pivotal, the support never left. It really is a family and once you’re a part of it, it’ll always be there for you.

Currently, I am on my first professional contract in Italy and Greece working aboard Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas as a showgirl. And my Pivotal Dance family has been with me every step of the way.

MARIANNA

Our daughter has been a part of Pivotal Dance since she was three years old, and we couldn't be happier with her experience. The caring dance teachers have not only taught her dance skills but also helped her develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of friendship and family. She has now started the dance teaching program and loves working with the mini dancers. Thank you, Pivotal Dance, for making a positive impact on our daughter's life.

A very professionally run dance studio that manages to balance learning, competition (optional), and fun. It is a lovely environment for young people, with lots of opportunities for growth. It is lovely to see the kids happy, active and building friendships.

For the past four years, Pivotal Dance has been a second home for my daughter. She loves her teachers, the friends she has made, and the excitement of dance concerts, competitions and solo opportunities. Her weekly rehearsals are something she eagerly looks forward to. What sets Pivotal Dance apart is the positive and encouraging environment. The instructors push each student to be their best without any negativity. It has been a joy to see my daughter thrive and grow in such a supportive space. Thank you, Pivotal Dance, for creating a place where she feels she belongs and can shine!”

CHRISTINE

My daughter started dancing at Pivotal when she was 4 years old and is now almost 13. In addition to dance, Pivotal has taught her commitment, teamwork and sacrifice, brought her friends of all different ages and walks of life and developed her confidence.

She dances in a competition team and now has the opportunity to start the teaching program, where she will help with the junior classes, which she is very excited about.

It’s been a fabulous journey for her. The support she’s had from Chantel and the other teachers to keep going and strive for her personal and her team’s best, will hopefully be a lesson she’ll take with her into all aspects of her life for many years to come.

I would like to say though from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support for Addison and our family over the last two years with you. She went from this shy girl who wouldn’t even leave our side to this incredibly confident child who loves performing and dancing. They wouldn’t have happened without the support and encouragement from the beautiful teachers you have with you.
