Jazz Dance incorporates a broad range of dance styles. It focuses on strong technique training through body isolations, kicks, turns, leaps and jumps. It is a fast paced, fun and challenging style!
Tap is one of the coolest dance styles! This dance style incorporates dance, music, performance and your feet actually become a percussive instrument. Tap is the perfect class to start getting into dance with. This is partly because, tap has such a strong emphasis on patterns, rhythm, coordination, and footwork that you do not need to be intimidated by having to leap and turn across the floor, or even look particularly graceful. It is a great confidence builder.
Fast becoming our most popular dance class, hip hop combines popular music, with upbeat and fast paced movement. Our hip hop classes incorporate a large range of styles within the hip hop genre.
Lyrical is a combination of Ballet and Contemporary. It combines fluid, soft movement with sharp contrasts to compliment the music. Lyrical is choreographed to emotionally charged and inspirational songs to which the dancers are encouraged to embody the character and express the emotion of the music.
Contemporary dance is extremely popular with all ages as it is a free flowing, expressive dance style incorporating fall and recovery, contract and release, acrobatic like movement, and elements of ballet technique.
Pivotal Dance is an accredited ACROBATIC ARTS studio. In a fun packed 60 minute lesson students learn skills tumbling, limbering, flexibility training, partnering and group stunting. Our Acrobatic Coaches offer classes from ages 3+ with a strong emphasis on both technique and safety in performing the movements. Please note: class levels are skill based so new students will be assessed by our coaches to determine the correct level for their existing skill set.
Aerial (ages 7+)
Combining flexibility, strength, co-ordination and artistry, our aerial classes will have you soaring in no time! Classes include a combination of aerial silk (tissu), Lyra (aerial hoop), and Static Trapeze. This class is currently for ages 8+.
Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT)
Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students' technique by focussing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance. It is a unique training system using ballet-technique specific exercises to train skill acquisition in a graded and progressive manner from junior through to advanced levels.
PBT is a compulsory class for competition team students but is open to everyone!
International Dance Technique (IDT)
International Dance Technique is a studio syllabus designed to develop plyometric agility, strength, fitness, flexibility and strong jazz technique in dancers of all ages and abilities.
IDT is a compulsory technique class for competition team members but is open to everyone!
Ballet is the foundation of all other dance styles. It combines graceful, precise movement with athleticism. It is a fabulous form of exercise, giving overall body conditioning, helping students gain strength, flexibility, musicality, and co-ordination.
